What sizes of medium mattresses do we stock?

Our medium mattresses are available in every standard mattress size we stock. These include small single (75 x 190cm), single (90cm x 190cm), small double (120 x 190cm), double (135 x 190cm), king size (150 x 200cm), super king size (180 x 200cm), king size zip and link (150 x 200/2x 75 x 200cm) and super king size zip and link (180 x 200/2x 90 x 200cm). As obvious as it may sound, it's important your new bed is a suitable fit for your room. For example, a medium double mattress is ideal for couples sharing a bed in a room with restricted space, whereas a king or super king bed is perfect for spacious settings.

How do I know if a medium mattress firmness is right for me?

Finding the sleeping solution with the correct firmness rating depends on your preferred sleeping position. Because a medium mattress, often referred to as a medium to soft mattress, is on the softer end of the spectrum, people who prefer to sleep on their side are recommended for this mattress's firmness. Cushioning can be provided to pressure points such as the shoulders and hips, promoting healthy spine alignment and a great night's sleep.

If you sleep in various positions throughout the night, a medium firm mattress is best designed for you. The best medium firm mattress is soft enough to support you when you sleep on your back, front or side. Preferred back or stomach sleepers are generally recommended to sleep on firm mattresses. Whilst anyone affected by back or joint pains is likely to be best suited to an orthopaedic bed that is extra firm.

What is the difference between a medium and medium firm mattress?

What kinds of medium mattresses are available?

Pocket sprung mattress

Our range of pocket sprung mattresses is fantastic for preferred side sleepers, as each spring moves independently and moves to the contours of your body shape. Not only does this make for a comfortable night's sleep, but it will support you throughout the night and address all your sleeping needs.

Open coil

Our range of open coil mattresses is fantastic for a more affordable option that provides similar support to a pocket sprung mattress. An open coil mattress is made of a continuous wire that forms the entire spring unit, which is cheaper to produce as a result. Open coil mattresses are less durable and have shorter longevity than a pocket sprung option.

Memory foam mattresses

One of our most popular mattresses, our range of medium memory foam mattresses is brilliant for anyone who loves that sinking-in feeling. The memory foam layer comprises millions of tiny holes that seep air when applying pressure; memory foam mattresses, therefore, provide body-moulding support and some of the best medium firmness support.

Other types

Here at Mattressman, our wide variety of mattress types ensures an option for every kind of sleeper out there. Alongside the mattresses described above, we also stock latex, reflex foam, Geltex and hybrid options. Latex is a fantastic natural mattress that is more anti-allergy and breathable than its memory foam counterpart. The same can also be said for reflex foam and Geltex. Less heat retention makes for a mattress that provides a much cooler night's sleep; if you're looking for a similar sensation to that of memory foam, but would prefer a cooling mattress, gel foam is an excellent choice. Suppose you want to reap the benefits of multiple mattress types. In that case, a hybrid option is ideal, often combining a traditionally sprung mattress with memory foam, Geltex, latex or reflex foam.

What mattress fillings are available with medium beds?

Finding the right mattress for you isn't just about what spring type is right for you but what fillings will work best for you too. If you are affected by hay fever or dust mite allergies, our advice is to opt for a mattress with synthetic or polyester fillings. These fibres' pore sizes are tighter, making it harder for dust mites to pass through and build up.

If you don't suffer from hay fever, you can take advantage of mattresses with natural fillings. Wool, cotton, silk, cashmere and many other natural fillings have exceptional properties such as breathability, insulation, softness, and so much more. However, these fibres have much larger pore sizes, so it's easier for dust mites to build up in the mattress.
